In 2019, Ben Horne went to sleep like any other night.

But during his sleep, he suffered a severe epileptic seizure.
His dog, frightened and confused, reacted in panic.
When Ben woke up… everything had changed.
He had suffered devastating facial injuries, and was rushed into a 10-hour emergency surgery just to stabilize his condition.

That was only the beginning.
Over the next five years, he underwent around 10 major operations, as surgeons worked to rebuild his face using skin grafts and bone from other parts of his body.
A long, painful journey.
Not just physically… but mentally.
He later shared how difficult it was to look in the mirror and see someone completely different.
After the incident, his dog was rehomed, and Ben made a hard decision — not out of anger, but caution.
To protect himself.

But instead of staying in that moment… he moved forward.
Today, he is raising awareness for epilepsy and supporting the medical teams that helped rebuild his life.
Because sometimes survival isn’t just about making it through…
It’s about finding a way to keep going after everything changes.
