FROM RICE FIELDS TO DREAMS FULFILLED — A FAMILY’S JOURNEY OF SACRIFICE AND SUCCESS
In the quiet farming town of San Remigio, Cebu, a humble couple spent their lives beneath the relentless heat of the sun, planting rice to provide for their family. Diosdado Cataraja Sr. and Libelita Tauto-an Cataraja had little in terms of wealth, but they held onto something far more powerful — an unshakable belief that education could change their children’s future.

Each day brought physical exhaustion and uncertainty. The work was demanding, the income uncertain, and the challenges constant. Yet through every hardship, they remained focused on a single dream: to send all eight of their children to college. They chose sacrifice over comfort, placing their children’s future above their own needs, even when it meant going without.
Years passed, and slowly, their efforts began to transform into something extraordinary. One by one, their children graduated from college, pursuing professions in nursing, engineering, maritime studies, accounting, architecture, and education. They did not stop at graduation — they passed their licensure exams and built stable, meaningful careers, breaking the cycle of hardship their parents had endured.

Their daughter, Jovy, later shared their story, and it quickly resonated with people everywhere. It stands as a powerful testament to the strength of parental love, the dignity of hard work, and the belief that even the most modest beginnings can lead to remarkable outcomes.
