Pentagon Officially Releases Navy UFO Videos (2020)

U.S. Department of Defense Confirms Authenticity of Mysterious Aerial Footage

Washington, D.C. — April 27, 2020.
In a historic move that captured global attention, the United States Department of Defense officially released three previously leaked videos recorded by U.S. Navy pilots showing unidentified flying objects performing unusual maneuvers in the sky. The footage, captured years earlier during military training missions, quickly became some of the most widely discussed UFO evidence in modern history.

The Three Videos

The videos, commonly known as FLIR1, Gimbal, and GoFast, were recorded between 2004 and 2015 by pilots flying advanced fighter jets from the United States Navy.

These videos show strange aerial objects detected by advanced targeting systems aboard fighter aircraft. The objects appear to move in ways that pilots said did not match known aircraft capabilities.

The footage had circulated online for years after being leaked in 2007 and 2017, but the Pentagon’s announcement marked the first official confirmation that the videos were genuine military recordings.

What the Pentagon Said

According to the United States Department of Defense, the decision to release the videos publicly was made to clear up confusion about their authenticity.

The Pentagon stated that the objects shown in the footage remain classified as “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAP)—a term increasingly used by the military instead of UFO.

Officials emphasized that the release does not confirm extraterrestrial origin, but acknowledges that the objects in the videos have not yet been explained.

Pilots Describe the Encounters

Some of the pilots involved in the incidents later spoke publicly about what they saw.

Among them was David Fravor, who encountered a mysterious “Tic-Tac” shaped object during the famous USS Nimitz UFO Incident in 2004. Fravor described the craft as:

  • Smooth and white

  • Roughly the size of a small aircraft

  • Capable of extreme acceleration and sudden directional changes

Pilots also reported that the objects appeared to react to their aircraft movements, suggesting a level of control or intelligence.

A Turning Point in UFO Transparency

The official release of the videos was seen by many researchers as a major shift in government transparency regarding UFO sightings.

Following the announcement, the U.S. government increased efforts to study unidentified aerial phenomena. New programs and reports were launched to investigate unexplained sightings by military personnel.

In 2022, the United States Department of Defense established the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to analyze unusual objects seen in air, space, and underwater environments.

A Mystery That Continues

Despite advanced sensors and detailed analysis, the objects in the released footage remain unexplained. Scientists and military analysts continue to debate whether they could be:

  • Unknown natural phenomena

  • Advanced foreign technology

  • Sensor artifacts

  • Or something entirely new

Regardless of the explanation, the 2020 Pentagon release marked one of the most significant moments in modern UFO history, bringing the topic from the fringes of speculation into official government discussion. 👽🛸
