Evit Entered the World With a Heart That Couldn’t Protect Him, Forcing a Child to Fight for Life Before He Ever Learned What Safety Felt Like.

HE HAD OPEN-HEART SURGERY BEFORE HIS FIRST HOLIDAY

Evit was only days old when doctors performed open-heart surgery to save his life. Born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, his heart could not function on its own, and survival required surgeries, constant monitoring, and waiting in hospital rooms instead of the peaceful sounds of lullabies.

At just eight days old, he underwent his first open-heart surgery. He was allowed to go home briefly—long enough for hope to feel real—before complications, Covid, and emergency readmissions threw him back into a battle that no baby should have to fight.

Before his first birthday, Evit had undergone numerous surgeries, catheterizations, and intubations, spending months away from home. His oxygen levels plummeted, his body struggled, and fear never left the room. Yet today, he smiles, he laughs, and he fights. Despite being told he might not have a tomorrow, he continues to choose life.

His journey is far from over—but his resilience is undeniable.
