Born with a Failing Heart and a Rare Genetic Disorder, Chet’s Eight Months Became a Story of Courage No Parent Is Prepared to Tell.

Ten Years Ago, HE WILL ALWAYS BE EIGHT MONTHS OLD.

Chet was born into a battle for life. A broken heart, a rare genetic condition, more medical diagnoses than days he had been alive. Surgeries took precedence over milestones, tubes replaced toys, and pain overshadowed rest. Yet, through it all, he smiled with his eyes. He found joy even in the midst of suffering.

For eight months, he endured challenges that would break most adults, yet never stopped being gentle, curious, and deeply loved. When his heart failed once again, we made the choice to fight with him, agreeing to one more surgery—because love always chooses hope. But this time, his body couldn’t come back. I held him as he left this world, thanking him for choosing us, telling him that he never failed—not once.

Chet’s life was short.
But it was full.

Some lives change the world without making a sound.
His did.
