The Mysterious Disappearance of Pilot Frederick Valentich

Australian pilot Frederick Valentich disappeared without a trace 41 years ago, and the incident is believed to be linked to an unidentified flying object (UFO).
According to Historic Mysteries, on October 21, 1978, Frederick Valentich departed Melbourne, Australia, to begin a 125-mile flight to King Island. This was only Frederick’s second flight in a Cessna 182L.
Nearly an hour later, Frederick contacted Melbourne air traffic control, asking if there were any aircraft in the area. The answer Frederick received was no.
During the six-minute exchange, Frederick insisted that he had seen a strange object approaching him. Frederick could not confirm whether it was an aircraft or not.
According to Valentich’s description, the strange object had at least four lights, one of which was green, elongated, and brightly illuminated.
The UFO, moving at extremely high speed, relentlessly approached and pursued Frederick from various angles. Just before the call ended, Frederick mentioned engine problems, and then the signal disappeared.

Frederick and the Cessna he was piloting mysteriously disappeared that night.
Many theories have been put forward regarding Frederick’s disappearance along with a private plane. Some claim to have seen the plane on fire. Others claim that the end of an audio recording sounded like two pieces of metal colliding.

The last thing air traffic control heard from Frederick was: “That wasn’t a plane.” A large-scale search and rescue operation subsequently found no trace of Frederick or the Cessna.
At the time of Frederick’s disappearance, many people reported seeing strange lights in the area near King Island and the Bass Strait. It’s noteworthy that Frederick had previously researched UFOs.

But that doesn’t mean Frederick intentionally fabricated the entire story. The most plausible theory is that the Cessna experienced engine trouble and crashed into the sea. The wreckage lies somewhere on the seabed, impossible to find.
