A Brave Step Toward Healing: Dilynn Turner’s Critical Surgery
It’s Tuesday afternoon, and our dear friend Dilynn Turner is preparing for one of the most important moments of her journey. Tomorrow, she will undergo a major surgery that marks a crucial step in her recovery, and she needs all the strength, support, and positive thoughts we can send her way.
Just over four months ago, Dilynn, a junior at Good Hope High School in Alabama, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury following a car accident. In order to save her life and allow her brain to safely swell, doctors had to remove a portion of her skull — a difficult but necessary decision.

Now, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, surgeons will perform a complex procedure known as a cranioplasty. This operation will replace the missing sections of her skull using a custom-designed implant tailored specifically to fit her frontal bone.
Dilynn’s mother, Jessica, explained that two specialists will work together during the surgery. A neurosurgeon will carefully reopen the previous incision, ensure the brain and surrounding tissues are safe, and secure the implant using medical plates and screws. A plastic surgeon will then close the area with precision to support proper healing and reduce scarring.
This procedure is not only about restoring appearance, but also about protecting Dilynn’s brain, rebuilding the natural structure of her skull, and helping her continue moving forward in her recovery.

It is a major operation, and while there is understandable anxiety, there is also deep hope. Today, we stand beside Dilynn and her family, sending strength, love, and unwavering support as she prepares for tomorrow.
Thank you to Jessica for sharing this journey so openly. We are all thinking of Dilynn and believing in her strength every step of the way.
