“São Paulo Mother Adjusts to Life With Quintuplets: “That’s 40 Diapers Every Single Day”
Life has changed dramatically for 28-year-old Yanike Piera since bringing her quintuplets home two months ago. The five babies—Ravi, Isabella, Madalena, Helena, and Enrico—are now four months old, healthy, and growing stronger every day. While their progress brings immense joy, caring for so many infants at once has put significant financial pressure on the family.

Yanike, who also has two older children, Murillo, 5, and Isis, 4, had to stop working as a self-employed saleswoman during her pregnancy and has yet to return to work. Currently, the household relies solely on the children’s father, who works as a delivery driver.
“It’s been a very turbulent time,” Yanike explained. “We still have rent to pay, and all of our bills have gone up. I can’t leave the house to work right now, so everything depends on one income.”
The costs quickly add up. Rent alone is around R$900 per month, with water and electricity totaling roughly R$300. Feeding the babies requires one can of formula every day—around R$1,800 per month. Diapers are another major expense.
“That’s about 40 diapers a day,” Yanike said. “By the end of the month, we’re spending around R$900 just on diapers.”
Despite the financial strain, daily life with the quintuplets is a mix of chaos and joy. “It’s very busy, but also incredibly rewarding,” she said. Relatives have stepped in to help, taking turns so the family can manage.
“The hardest moments are feeding and bath time,” Yanike admitted. “They often all start crying at once, and it can be really complicated.”
Adjusting hasn’t been easy for the older siblings either. Yanike said Murillo and Isis were initially a little jealous, mostly because they suddenly had to share their parents’ attention. “Now they help me a lot and are very attached to the babies,” she added.

The quintuplets were conceived naturally, and the pregnancy came as a complete surprise. Yanike discovered she was carrying five babies during an ultrasound at 11 weeks, following some bleeding.
“I already knew I was pregnant, but I never imagined there were five,” she recalled. “When I heard the news, I was in total shock.”
Recently, Yanike organized a newborn photo shoot with all five babies, capturing tender moments that quickly drew attention. She regularly shares glimpses of her family’s life on Instagram through her account @quintuplosmais2sbc, offering followers an inside look at life with quintuplets—diapers, sleepless nights, and all.”
