Baby Girl Born With Additional Limbs Following Rare Triplet Pregnancy in India
A highly unusual birth has been reported in India after a baby girl was delivered with four legs and three arms — a condition doctors believe occurred during a rare triplet pregnancy in which two of the fetuses partially fused together in the womb.
The delivery took place early Friday at a government hospital in Tonk, located in Rajasthan. The 24-year-old mother, Raju, gave birth naturally at approximately 2:46 a.m.

One of the babies, a boy, was born healthy. His sister, however, was delivered with extra limbs attached to her upper body. According to medical staff, the additional arms and legs are believed to belong to a partially developed conjoined twin, making the case exceptionally rare.
Dr. Rohitesh Meena, who assisted during the birth, explained that the condition likely arose early in the pregnancy when two of three embryos fused during development.
“The baby boy is completely healthy,” Dr. Meena said. “The baby girl is a conjoined twin case. She had slight breathing difficulty immediately after birth but was given oxygen support and is currently stable.”
Doctors believe it may be possible to surgically remove the extra limbs. Arrangements are being made to transfer the newborn to a specialized hospital in Jaipur, where pediatric surgeons will conduct further evaluations and determine the safest treatment plan.
Both the mother and her son are reported to be in stable condition.
Raju and her husband, Badhulal Gurjar, who works as a daily wage laborer, were expecting their first child. The couple had not undergone prenatal scans and were unaware that Raju was carrying twins or that the pregnancy involved complications.

Medical staff said the parents were understandably distressed upon seeing their daughter’s condition.
Health experts note that such cases are extremely uncommon. Doctors believe this may be the first recorded instance of a naturally conceived triplet pregnancy in which two fetuses became conjoined while the third developed normally.
Specialists in Jaipur will continue monitoring the baby girl as her family prepares for the next phase of medical care.
